Europa and Pasiphaë

According to Wikipedia, Pasiphaë was a "doublet" of Europa. Wikipedia doesn't explain what it means by 'doublet' in this context, but it seems to mean two beings who played the same role in different versions of a story. However ... Pasiphaë was the wife (queen) of Minos, not his mother.

She does seem to have mated with a bull, but a real one; this is how the Minotaur came to be.

This being the case, it would appear to be somewhat generous to allow Pasiphaë as an answer to this question!

And sticking with Wikipedia: Pasiphaë is apparently pronounced 'pasif–ee–ee'.
